Influence

His work on La La Land influenced me because the way he was able to create a modern musical an how it was influenced and call backed to by the old musicals from the 30's and 40's which I need to watch more of.

The way how the film opens up on shows what your going to be getting into with the song "Another Day Of Sun". One of the first things that stands out is how the camera is able sweep up the road with each car playing different music and when the song kicks in the camera is able to follow the action up and down and even turning around to get the different moves which is probably because of a crane system.

One of my favourite scenes of the movie is for the song "A Lovely Night". Immediately from looking at the sequence one of the things that stood out to me the most was the colours from the purple and orange backdrop to the yellow on Mia's dress it just pops out of the screen. I also feel that the location makes this scene work being able to see a view of Hollywood, but also props like the street light, tree and bench are placed well in the scene.

Another scene that is one of my favourites is in a jazz bar with Sebastian's speech about Jazz to Mia  when she claims to not like it and he goes on to explain all about and why he likes it so much. I think the cinematography is so simple because of the bar lighting but because of the placement of the characters.
