When it comes to placing microphones. One thing I can do is place them on the bars that the lights hang from. Now since the set is going to be in one corner of the studio I have to use this bar in image above the place microphones if I hang them
Now here is a microphone at CCAD that I can use and place them on the actors that we get for the studio shoot. Now one problem is placing the microphone and making sure it doesn't come up on camera.
Now If were to put the microphone on the bar this shouldn't be a problem as long as there is enough room when the camera is placed on the set to pick it up.
There is also the choice of microphone that I can hang up there such as omnidirectional and unidirectional. Omnidirectional microphone pick sound up from a wide area whereas unidirectional microphones pick sound up from one direction.
I also have to see what effect the curtain on the set has on the sound because being a thick curtain it will absorb the sound but I will see what happens in a test.
Now this video gives tips about hiding such a microphone that can be placed on an actor. Such tips as If an actor is wearing a suit place the microphone on the back of the tie - this could be helpful because one of the characters will be wearing one
One other thing you can do is hide the microphone on the collar of the actor
