Week 1
Well this is our new lesson that we got from choosing our pathways - choosing digital over film. In our first session we looked at the course handbook and what we will be ding throughout the weeks. Only 5 people chose the digital pathway (including me) which surprised me. There was also the opportunity to see the smoke machine being used.
As some roles I would like to do in the future would be camera, directing or editing.
Week 2
This week we looked at sound and recording using a Field Memory Recording and also how to use Edit-share and Pro Tools. The Field Memory Recorder is easy to use once you've got a grasp on how to use it. When recording in mono sound use the left channel. To swap between mono and stereo sound make sure to turn the power off and on again. The main preferences to use are 48htz, 16 bit 20 on the level bar and the peek level should be 12.
There is a pre-record button which acts as a safety record and is mostly used for documentaries and the record standby button will turn everything on so you can hear. Also to format the CF card before shooting, go to menu-disk-format. CF cards are good to use because they are less likely to break than an SD card plus they are cheap.
It is also important to backup your footage in three different locations: Editshare, home and a different location and remember to open Editshare BEFORE Protools because it will confuse the mac computers.
When using Protools and you open a blank template the audio has to be a .wav file format in 48htz and 16 bit. It is also recommended to rename the clips inside the software when editing. Finally remember to log out of Editshare before logging off the mac because their may be problems for the next person using the mac.
Radio Advert
I managed t complete my edit for the Radio advert practice for Digital Production. After a few problems and some help from Lee I managed to get i done with time to spare.
Week 3
Today we got a chance t use the AVC cameras. We did our own tech dem on the camera and get a chance to use the studio lighting which is very easy to use.
In the afternoon session we got t use the AVC cameras on another task - find shots with a hidden meaning to do with Hartlepool. This was similar to the freshers week task. We then discussed the shots each of us used and the meaning behind them.
Week 4
In today's session we looked at three point lighting but in a more advanced way by lighting three characters. Since there wasn't enough people to use camera, sound and act we decided to share each job. Unfortunately this was a failed project because we didn't kee the red tin of lighting in the final scene when all of the others did and there was also a problem with the studio lights.
In the afternoon we looked at the brief for Digital Production being CCAD The Advert. Mike expanded it to be all of Hartlepool instead f being just CCAD, it also needs to have a viral aspect in it that could attract people to CCAD. It also needs to be marketed on Youtube and we have a plan to pitch ideas next week.
Week 5
Today our group pitched our ideas for the advert. My idea focused on Hartlepool with most of its main location and then go to focus n the university
CCAD Advert - Interior Shots
Today we got our pre-production documents done quickly so we could film some of the advert. The shots we got done was in the stalls, seminar room and editing suite. We will be filming the studio and gallery on Thursday as that is when a level 5 project is getting rehearsed. So meting minutes and risk assessments are on the VLE.. Wednesday we will be looking for to film exterior shots as well as where the new build will be.
I also completed the script for the advert which I put on the VLE
CCAD Advert - Exterior Shots
We filmed the exterior shots of the advert some of them including where the new build will be. We even got shots from a building which hadn't been demolished. Finally we got shots of there office whee our lecturers work

Thanks to Sarah for some of the photos
Week 12
I watched our super 8 footage get filmed by a pocket black magic It turns out I have used pocket black magic camera in college so I have had a experience which will be helpful when I eventually get to use the camera. Lee then edited the Super 8 footage on DaVinci which has more control than Avid. It turned the negative footage into something that we could use.
Digital Production - Interviews
This week we recorded the interviews with some students on our course. We asked the students about their experiences at CCAD. The students we got were:
Janice (Level 4 Film)

Thanks to Sarah for the photo
Sarah (Level 4 Film)
Connor (Level 4 Film)
Jamie (Level 5 Film)
Jemma (Production Design Level 5)
We did want to got a Level 6 student and a graduate but Level 6 students are a rare species of student that only show up occasionally and the graduate we wanted Adam from Flix was busy to film. It was a good idea to film other students from other courses to show diversity at CCAD.

Mike unfortunately declined my idea for Andrew's one which involves interviewing students of all levels on our course plus shots of information for our course new building, lectures etc. The role I was assigned was editor which at first I was worried to do but thinking afterwords I'm happy with my role.
