To look into how to film natural light for Inheritance the director recommended this film to watch and here is my review.

First off we have the story which overall I thought which I thought was very dark but felt very real at the same time, the decisions made by the main characters in this film made me think that if the same event happened in real life this is what people could end up doing.

Next we have the main characters of the film which overall I thought were really good. I loved the relationship with the two main characters of the father and son and even in flashbacks to the mother was good. The characters were well acted throughout which added to how good they were even when the drama of making tough decisions.

Moving onto the tone of the movie which I thought was done really well and captured the bleakness of the world and the state humans could end up in if there were to be an event such as the one in the movie. As for the visuals they were one of the excellent parts to the film. The way scenes are filmed with natural lighting such as using a fireplace to light the characters were done really well and helped to add to the bleakness of the world in the film. The camerawork of the film helped immerse myself into the world and made me think that could happen. The use of the landscape shots setup a location that the characters would travel to.The weather was also used to great effect to help add to the environment of the world. The soundtrack of the film was excellent and every track was used to great effect in the scenes used and helped the film to great effect.

Overall I thought this film was depressing, dark and bleak but for what the film did to show a post apocalyptic world and surviving through the characters, lighting, sound and camerawork, I enjoyed it.

I give The Road a score of 8/10
